Exposition

Snow condition

Pretty poor snow conditions for steeper descents. At Neue Welt, you have to walk to Ehrwald from the forest at the latest.

Hard, pressed snow

South-facing descent from Zugspitze to Zugspitzblatt not very good conditions. It's still powdery with some sunshine, but doesn't hold at all on the icy old snow cover in the steep terrain and comes off as a sluff. Things on the north side looked blown off and blown in at the same time.

Risks

South South-West West

Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)

Danger of falling and drifting snow with strong winds from the southwest

Overall impression

2 von 5 Sterne
Worse

The original plan to ski the Neue Welt was abandoned. The descent looked good from the Fernpass, but the conditions on the descent to the Zugspitzplatt were already less than ideal, with strong winds from the south pushing the snow in the direction we wanted to ski and snowfall setting in. In any case, the conditions were much more challenging than expected and the main ridge was currently spoiled in terms of snow quality. The following photos provide further observations: -Schwärzrinne looked poor in snow -Stopselzieher no trace and very little snow. Still looks blown in and like trudging... -Jubiläumgsgrat no trace, some fresh cornices at the start

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
