Arc'teryx Academy: Advanced Ski Touring "Arlberg-style" (Ski)

By combining and linking various lifts to keep the ski touring brief, this advanced clinic shows you the tips and tricks of easy access freeriding that St. Anton am Arlberg is famous for. Expect to take your techniques to the next level, while safely exploring the backcountry of the Arlberg region.

Learning objectives

  • Master advanced ski touring techniques, including hairpin turns and risk management, to explore varied and steep terrain.

  • The focus is on pushing personal limits while maintaining safety.

Equipment

  • Ski pass

  • Touring skis

  • Skins

  • Ski poles

  • Touring bindings

  • Touring ski boots

  • Sufficient warm clothing for a day on the mountain, expect temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius

  • Jacket, trousers, midlayer & Underwear

  • Helmet

  • Gloves

  • Backpack* included: Avalanche probe, avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel (metal)

*Avalanche airbag backpacks are recommended but not mandatory

Skill level

  • This course is aimed at experienced ski tourers who want to further develop their skills. Participants should be able to ascend on skins with touring skis for around three hours (1,000 vertical metres) and be able to ski safely in variable off-piste terrain.

  • Solid off-piste, ski touring, and backcountry experience is required.

Costs

  • 190€**

**The ski pass is not included in the course price and must be purchased directly from the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
