This clinic is about adapting your on-piste skiing skills for your first turns on ungroomed terrain. You'll get technical skiing tips as well as insights into risk management, so you can build confidence and knowledge to take your skiing game to the next level in the backcountry.

  • Frequency: Course takes place on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (booking required)

Learning objectives

  • Focus on basic techniques and safety on the mountain. Participants learn to move safely and in a controlled manner in unprepared terrain.

Equipment

  • Ski pass, skis, poles, bindings

  • Ski boots

  • Suitable clothing in which you can spend a day on the mountain (expect sub-zero temperatures): Jacket, trousers, midlayer & functional underwear

  • Helmet

  • Gloves, backpack* with:
    Avalanche probe
    LVS
    Avalanche shovel (metal)

    *Avalanche airbag backpacks are recommended but not essential

Skill level

  • This clinic is for first- or second-time participants venturing into off-piste terrain. Participants should be comfortable skiing or riding on black slopes, with an emphasis on developing confidence and control. Expect to navigate steep off-piste slopes in varying snow conditions.

Costs

  • €190**

**The ski pass is not included in the course price and must be purchased directly from the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
