Arc'teryx Academy: Ski touring fundamentals for Women (Ski)

You spent the money and got all that fancy gear. You look like you know what your doing. Now it's time to take it out of bounds. Well there's one little thing you're missing. Experience.

Time to dial your equipment, take note of the terrain, and begin your freeride journey. You'll be taught what all this gear is for and how to use it. Ski Touring for beginners.

  • Skill level: Beginner

  • Group ratio: 4-5 participants

  • Frequency: Course takes place on Thursday and Friday (booking required)

Learning objectives

  • Introduction to touring techniques, use of equipment, and safe behaviour.

  • The participants learn basic knowledge for their first touring experiences.

Equipment

  • Ski pass

  • Touring skis

  • Skins

  • Ski poles

  • Touring bindings

  • Touring ski boots

  • Sufficient warm clothing for a day on the mountain, expect temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius

  • Jacket, trousers, midlayer & underwear

  • Helmet

  • Gloves

  • Backpack* included: Avalanche probe, avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel (metal)

*Avalanche airbag backpacks are recommended but not mandatory

Skill level

  • This course is aimed at participants who are undertaking a ski tour for the first or second time.

  • Participants should be able to ascend with touring skis on skins for around two hours (600 vertical metres).

  • The descents require safe and controlled skiing in unprepared terrain in different snow conditions. Experience in unprepared terrain is an advantage.

Costs

  • 190€**

**The ski pass is not included in the course price and must be purchased directly from the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
