The 2026 FIS Freeride World Championships will be the first time an official freeride world championship title has been awarded. The venue is Ordino Arcalís, a renowned freeride area in the Pyrenees that has already hosted numerous FWT events and is known for its challenging lines. Here is the trailer.
Competition format & time slot
The Championship will take place within a weather window from 1-6 February 2026. The exact contest day will be chosen at short notice to guarantee optimal safety and fair conditions. Each rider has only one run - mistakes are fatal, top lines are crucial.

A total of 66 athletes will be competing in four categories:
Ski men
Ski women
Snowboard men
Snowboard women
The starting field is made up of FWT rankings, continental quotas, wildcards, and host places. The aim is to have a balanced, international line-up. You can find detailed information on this at FIS.
Qualification & Conditions of Participation
The qualification phase ran between 1 May 2024 and 30 April 2025. National entry limits are intended to ensure the fairest possible international distribution. The field of competitors is correspondingly high-calibre.
