Description
10 years of Avalanche Update! The Alpenverein's successful format will take place this winter as a one-off event (and without a livestream) - where it all began, in Hall in Tirol.
Many avalanche accidents could be avoided
Around 20 ski tourers die in avalanches every year. Although not all avalanches are foreseeable and can occur without human error, the Alpine Association observes recurring accident patterns that could clearly be avoided.
Avalanche knowledge for winter sports enthusiasts
How do you prepare safely for ski tours and winter mountain adventures? In winter 2025/26, the Austrian Alpine Association is once again offering the "Avalanche Update", where winter sports enthusiasts can refresh their knowledge of avalanche danger and emergency techniques.
In two and a half informative hours, avalanche expert Michael Larcher explains how risks can be minimised using current accident examples. The second part provides practical tips on emergency equipment and efficient avalanche searches. An informative evening for anyone who wants to be safe in the mountains during the cold season.
Here, you can find a helpful download area that offers the "Stop-Or-Go-Method" and "First Aid Cards" free of charge to refresh your knowledge for the season.
