While lectures are relatively easy to convert into a digital format, this is somewhat more difficult for the workshops typical of the Alpinforum. Nevertheless, some of the workshops have been converted into online tutorials, which will be available from November 13. Stefan Mitter (mountain and ski guide, expert) and Walter Würtl (ÖKAS, ÖGSL, alpine scientist and expert) explain the basic operation of current avalanche transceivers and avalanche airbag systems. The individual functions and applications are explained and demonstrated in the form of short videos. The aim is to enable multipliers in particular, who are confronted with the various systems, to operate the basic features of these items of equipment in the extensive product range. There will also be video tutorials on the Recco system and the "onion principle" for clothing.

The tutorials will be available from 13.11. (Friday) at this link.

Saturday, 14.11.:

• 6 pm: Chris Semmel, expert and mountain guide, talks about rope tears and what we can learn from them: Rope breaks are becoming more frequent. What are the causes? What is the mechanism behind a rope break?

• From 8 pm: Vivian Bruchez, extreme skier and mountain guide from Chamonix, gives a lecture on steep skiing (in English). In his evening lecture, Bruchez will talk about his career as a steep skier.

With the exception of Vivan Bruchez's talk, the presentations will also be available online afterwards.

The livestreams on Friday from 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 p.m. will offer the opportunity to actively participate via chat. Here you can find the streams (live from Friday, 5 pm).
