PowderGuide as a guest at the TouringPreview 2025 in Hochfügen

03/17/2025 by Martin Svejkovsky
We from PowderGuide were at the TouringPreview 2025 in Hochfügen - an exclusive event where specialist retailers and experts can discover the latest freetouring and freeride highlights for the 2025/26 season. In a relaxed atmosphere, we tested skis, bindings, avalanche equipment and more, gaining exciting insights into the innovations of the coming winter.

From January 9th -10th, 2025, we were the PowderGuide guests at the TouringPreview 2025 in Hochfügen. The TouringPreview is a B2B event that offers professionals and experts of the scene the opportunity to exclusively check out the new products in the freetouring and freeride sector for the 2025/26 season. In the truest sense of the word, everything was there from head to toe: skis, bindings, boots, poles, clothing, helmets, gloves, backpacks, avalanche equipment and even headlamps.

Participation in the TouringPreview is only possible for specialist sports stores and press representatives. We from PowderGuide were allowed to be part of it and so we not only got to know the latest products for the coming winter, but were also able to test our way through the exhibitors' wide range of products in a relaxed atmosphere.

As soon as we arrived, we tested an ABS Voltage Set backpack with the Alpride E2 system. The backpack impressed us with its clean look, as all the cords and unused clips and straps can be stowed in the backpack cover so that nothing flutters while riding. But of course we didn't just borrow a backpack with the Alpride system and not trigger it. This worked perfectly - I found it particularly amazing how quickly we were able to fold up the inflated airbag again and stow it in the backpack.

An eye-catcher among the stands was the first electrically adjustable ascent aid. Even though it remains to be seen whether this innovation will prevail on the market and consumers will ultimately decide whether this luxury is really necessary, it was exciting to see the model in action.

Another highlight was definitely the night ski tour planned by the organizers. Together with the exhibitors, we made our way to the 8er Alm at sunset, where an excellent 3-course meal awaited us. Around the campfire and in the cozy parlor of the 8er Alm, we took the opportunity to talk shop and exchange ideas with others about the products we had tested. Here's just a brief insight into the brands I tested: Elan, Faction, Blackcrows, Salomon, Atomic, Kästle, ABS, Kang Poles and many more! As you can see, all the big-name brands were represented, but we were also able to get to know newcomers and underdogs. At the Alm, I was able to ask questions about the products I was testing and learned exciting details, for example about the construction of the VoltageElan skis I was testing. These are asymmetrically constructed, as the inner edge of each ski is stabilized by an additional carbon reinforcement. This should mean that the edges of the outer ski can always be loaded well, while weight is saved on the non-load-bearing ski edge. In addition, the weight of the wooden core in the ski is reduced by lightweight carbon tubes.

After the evening on the mountain pasture had come to an end, we made our way down the freshly groomed slopes in the dark. At this point, I would like to mention the headlamp manufacturer Lupine, as I had left my headlamp in the car and was allowed to test the "Betty" model. As it started to snow in the meantime, "Betty" lit my way perfectly and I flew towards the stars and snowflakes just like in Star Wars.

The next day, to our surprise, there was quite a bit of fresh snow, so we grabbed some more test equipment and concluded the TouringPreview 2025 with a big smile on our faces and lots of new contacts. Thanks for the invitation!
