The qualifier series of the Freeride World Tour 2010/2011 has come to an end. After an exciting, albeit at times very snow-poor season, eight new riders have qualified for the FWT 2011/2012. This means that the field of riders for the official tour stops of the upcoming FWT 2011/2012 has been finalized. However, the FWT is still keeping a lid on how the tour will present itself next winter.
Winter 2012 is just around the corner. After a rather mixed season with very little snow, eight new faces were nevertheless able to qualify for the Freeride World Tour 2011/2012. Five skiers and three snowboarders were able to score enough points in the almost 30 events of the Qualifier Tour to make it to the top of the world next winter and finally be able to compete with the big names on the scene. They are seeded for all main events of the Freeride World Tour 2012. The Freeride World Tour is still keeping a low profile when it comes to information about the upcoming season. It will be interesting to see how the tour will present itself in the coming season. Last year, some fundamental changes were made, which mainly affected the women, such as the changed ranking system and the partial separation from the men's tour. These changes were hotly debated last year and caused quite a stir (FWQ Calendar 2011), especially at the beginning of the season. It remains to be seen what lessons the organizers have learned from the "test season", so to speak. Accordingly, the presentation of the upcoming season is already being eagerly awaited.
