Postponed: Open Faces Kappl

Fresh snow stops freeride event

Due to fresh snow and expected poor visibility as well as high avalanche danger, the OPEN FACES 2* Freeride World Qualifier in Kappl has been postponed to March 15-17, 2013. The weather forecasts do not bode well for the coming Saturday, at least if you want to organize contests. According to forecasts, heavy snowfall and a high risk of avalanches mean that no freeride contest can take place this weekend in Kappl. Therefore, the OPEN FACES** Kappl, which was planned for February 2, has to be postponed to March 15-17, 2013. There will then be a time slot and the contest will definitely be rescheduled.

The contest riders will certainly find ways to make good use of the day that has now been freed up. Of course, it's a bit of a shame about the interesting face. Let's hope that the conditions in the south-east exposed Kappl will still play along in mid-March. The contest now fits into the calendar just before the Open Faces final and perhaps reshuffles the cards for the final 3* FWQ on the Kitzsteinhorn. The next contest is now the Big Mountain Stubai Glacier 3* event on February 23, 2013. PowderGuide will report as usual.
