SOUNDSCAPE NOMEN EST OMEN
Many impressive walls await climbers in the Sierra Nevada. But the 365 meter vertical rock "The Incredible Hulk" presents a very special challenge. Climber Erik Weihenmayer can't see it himself, but he can hear it and feel it as far as his hands can reach. When he went blind, his greatest fear was to be excluded from everything that was exciting and adventurous. Together with his climbing partner Timmy O'Neill, Erik sets off into the vertical. SOUNDSCAPE shows how the beauty of nature and life can be grasped - with the senses that are available to us.
TO THE SEA
A somewhat crazier adventure awaits you in "To the Sea". Or what would you call it if you spent six years trying to navigate the wild river Vindelälven to the sea in a raft you made yourself from old wooden pallets? The two London boys Ben and Hugo decided to do just that in 2013. In Sorsele in Sweden, they built their raft "Melissa" from Euro pallets and canisters. Their wild construction then took them through rapids, thunderstorms and narrow passages towards the sea. What was planned as a two-week trip turned into a six-year expedition in stages. Year after year, Ben and Hugo travelled back with their ukuleles "Red" and "Blue", despite all the shipwrecks, cold fronts and mosquitoes.
KEEP IT BURNING
The Trango Towers alone are impressive. They are part of the Trango Group and form a chain of granite peaks on the north side of the Baltoro Glacier opposite Urdukas in the Baltoro Muztagh in the Karakoram. The "Eternal Flame" route may be familiar to some climbers, as the luminaries Wolfgang Güllich and Kurt Albert succeeded in climbing it in 1989. Later, the first redpoint ascent was made by the Huber brothers. Now, 13 years later, the Catalan climbing pro Edu Marin and his 70-year-old father want to make the route glow again. In "Keep it burning", you can see whether they succeed and what challenges the two of them encounter on their family expedition.
