Since the beginning of officially recorded freeskiing, PBP has been at the forefront of this young sport. In their new film, the aerial acrobats' tricks on skis don't come off like an assembly line, but - as you can guess from the title - as if shot from a revolver.
Nothing negative can be said about PBP. With Revolver, they deliver what they have always delivered: Freestyle at the highest level, trendy music, modernly dressed riders with attitudes typical of the scene, countless jumps and urban slides, innovative obstacles and a professional overall realization.
What you can't expect from Revolver is a polished and rousing background story or even a bit of footage of the protagonists that might allow you to look behind the always trendy-cool facade. In view of the death of one of the former main characters (C.R. Johnson), it is a real shame that Revolver remains a superficial series of jump and slide maneuvers. There is no self-reflection. Since the freestyle action is largely shifted to the "more exciting" backcountry and no longer takes place in jumps planned to a hundredth of a degree, and the danger situation is correspondingly completely different, a clear shortcoming of this film.
Conclusion
Despite the criticism, the film will inspire the (young) scene: tricks at the highest level, action as if shot from a semi-automatic and professional realization. Experienced freeriders, on the other hand, should rather go for a different production.
