Gear of the Week | Icebreaker Ski + Lite merino wool socks

My favorite socks from Icebreaker for all uses

Socks are a dime a dozen. And the best socks I've worn in recent years were the "Ski + Lite Over The Calf" ski socks from Icebreaker made from merino wool.

Socks are a dime a dozen. And the best socks I've worn in recent years were the "Ski + Lite Over The Calf" ski socks from Icebreaker made from merino wool.

Admittedly, the name is a bit strange, but let's keep it short.
Why the socks are super good:
- Don't stink (at least not on me), as they are made mainly from merino wool.
- Material: 75% wool, 18% nylon, 7% elastane.
- Does not itch.
- Warms well on cold days, not too warm on warm days.
- Dries quickly
- Very comfortable fit, thanks to thin material.

The sock is relatively thin and therefore very comfortable. However, this advantage is necessarily at the expense of the longevity of the product: If you climb a lot, the friction in the ski boot is necessarily relatively high. Material abrasion is correspondingly high. In my case, after two winters - although I also like to wear the socks on cold spring or fall days - the Ski + Lite socks are pretty worn out. However, they can still be used, but lose some of their performance: Patch a hole here and there (I'm usually too lazy and just keep wearing them with holes), and you can wear the sock at home or when biking or similar.

Like all Icebreaker merino products, the socks are relatively expensive (RRP 27.90 euros). However, you get a high-quality product for all winter days and winter activities.
