Mammut has a great package in its range with the Barryvox S, which impresses with its ease of use and robust materials. Recommended for beginners and advanced users alike and therefore our gear of the week:
Avalanche transceiver (LVS) Barryvox S:
A digital - analogue combination device with 3 antennas. Which of course everyone should have these days!
The device scores points with its range of approx. 70 metres and simple operation with search animations. On the display, a little man even shows you when you should bend your knees in the fine search or where and when you should enter the point search, i.e. start probing. It is almost impossible to misunderstand these instructions, but the avalanche transceiver search should still be practised regularly!
The Barryvox S also has a Rescue Send function. Here the device automatically switches from the search function to the send function if the rescuer does not move for two or four minutes (adjustable) to protect against a possible secondary avalanche.
The Barryvox S also has gimmicks such as displaying the vital data of the buried victim, measured using 3D sensors. I cannot judge whether this function works properly and is necessary.
The Barryvox S also has useful functions such as
Group test function
Multi-burial search and marking function
Updateable software
And expandable search settings such as: Pro search, acoustic guidance and visual guidance
