I love these shaggy, long-fiber fur fleece jackets! The longer, the shaggier, the softer, - the more comfortable. For me, it's incomprehensible why these warm fleece jackets are rather rare exotics in the range of most manufacturers.
A successful model of such a shaggy cuddly fleece jacket is called the Sula jacket and comes from the Scandinavian manufacturer Bergans.
The cut is simple and functional, largely without frills. The Sula jacket also has no membrane or other wind protection, but this has the advantage that the jacket is almost imperceptible as a mid-layer because it is so incredibly soft and smooth, while providing excellent thermal insulation. My only criticism of the jacket is that - at least for the author of this tip - it gets musty quite quickly and has to be washed from time to time.
The durability of the fur fleece, which comes from the leading fiber manufacturer Polartec, is also extremely good.
All in all, a great base layer jacket that can also be worn as a first layer in windless or warm weather conditions. The affordable price (the jacket is available from around 110 euros in various online stores) makes the Sula Fur fleece jacket a well-deserved Gear of the Week topic.
