If you have internalized the onion principle for winter sports clothing, then this midlayer is an ideal addition and you won't be disappointed. All those who still wear sweatshirts for outdoor sports would be well advised and equipped with this hoody. For me, it also cuts a perfect figure in everyday life. First impression

The Black Diamond Hybrid Hoody is a versatile mid-layer that conveys its technically sophisticated concept as soon as you unpack it. The adapted processing of breathable fabrics ensures optimum climate regulation during activities. The fabric feels very comfortable and the fit in size L is perfect for me. The hood fits snugly and is worn under the helmet. I was impressed by the hybrid concept as soon as I unpacked it. The First Light Hoody is also available in a "non-hybrid" version, which we were able to test last season.

Tester & test conditions

I am 1.81 m tall and weigh 85 kg. The areas of use for the test were skiing, ski touring, running, road cycling & everyday life. We tested in temperatures from around -10°C to around +10°C, in stormy conditions and sometimes in the rain. The hoody has now proven itself on dozens of outdoor days. The quality of workmanship was put to the test just as often in the washing machine and tumble dryer.

In arctic temperatures, the jacket with a hard shell was not enough. I needed an additional, warming layer here. Otherwise, a base layer, the hoody and a hardshell were always enough for me. The dozens of washing and drying cycles have left minimal signs of wear. Absolutely top quality and beautifully finished. The two hand pockets or the concealed chest pocket with zipper offer enough space for small items such as a bar or a buff.

Conclusion

With this hoody from Black Diamond, I have finally found a jacket that does not allow unpleasant odors and optimally regulates the climate in the various body zones. This is the first midlayer that I have worn consistently from morning to evening during outdoor activities.
