The direct-to-consumer model is now established in many areas of outdoor sports, such as the ski and bike industry. In the snowboard sector, however, direct mail order companies are not yet very widespread and this is exactly what Stompede wants to convince customers of.
By consistently dispensing with distribution and dealers, boards can be offered much cheaper than from manufacturers with traditional distribution structures, but of course you have to do without advice and service in the store.
The price is of course of great importance, especially for splitboarding, as a lot of material has to be purchased, especially at the beginning. The board should also be used and not just stored in the cellar. Therefore, the lower price may make the first rock contact a little easier to cope with
Construction
The shape of the board has all the features of a modern freeride board. Long nose rocker in combination with the tapered tail provide plenty of float. The reverse sidecut gives the board a high turning ability and at the same time prevents unintentional tipping.
In contrast to the normal version, the carbon version uses full carbon inserts instead of fiberglass layers to encase the ash and poplar wood core. In addition to the weight advantage, this provides an additional portion of stiffness and pop. The board was tested with a Spark Burner binding and Deeluxe Spark Summit boots.
