Competition | Penguin PowderGuide clothes

Simple, pure and now also with the PowderGuide logo on it

by Totti Lingott 02/18/2021
The new PG clothes are finally here! In collaboration with the small Swiss company Penguin, who are doing a lot of things differently in the textile industry, we have found just the right partner! We want to celebrate this with you and are giving away high-quality Penguin and PowderGuide clothing! Just read on and answer the questions...

The small Swiss company Penguin has been producing a small range of functional powder clothing for a few years now - by powder junkies for powder lovers, so to speak. Following the motto 'We focus on the essentials', Tristan, Ben and Claudio (the core of Penguin) are trying to take an (as yet) unusual path in the textile industry. An important feature of their sustainability philosophy is to produce the most robust, no-frills products possible with the lowest possible consumption of finite resources and to get the whole thing to the customer with the shortest possible transportation routes. Part of the idea is also a certain amount of care and a comprehensive repair service to keep the products on the market for a long time (Penguin Care).

The onion or layering principle is well known and also forms the core of Penguin's product range. We don't need more than three layers for powdering, so only one product is produced for each of the three layers with a few different colors. In the words of Penguin: "We believe in simplicity and purity to avoid confusion and overconsumption. The function per layer varies. The promise for quality remains." There are also a few useful and stylish accessories in the Penguin shop. That's it - that's all we need for a successful powder day!

Years ago, we at PowderGuide had already decided not to have PG hoodies, PG T-shirts or PG caps produced in Asia as cheaply as possible and under suspect production conditions. So we simply took a closer look at Penguin products over the last five years to check whether the quality requirements for PG clothing are really being met. In chronological order, we examined 3L jackets and trousers (2016), the Pinneco insulated jacket (2017), again the 3L combo and the Pinneco insulated trousers (2018) and then the baselayer (shirt and trousers) and the fleece hoodie (2020). Clear verdict: Yes, it fits well!!! Reason enough to finally turn a normal partnership into something more substantial.

It all started last winter with the snazzy PowderGuide t-shirts from Portuguese production. One color, one unisex cut, one logo - that's all it takes. Except to be produced fairly and with low levels of harmful substances in a family business. Then the PowderGuide hoodie was the crowning glory of the first Corona season in PowderGuide's history! As it is generally recommended to stay away from coffee grounds, the coffee grounds are now simply used with the recycled polyester for the production of the PowderGuide hoodie.

THIS IS HOW PENGUINS LOOK WHEN FREERIDING:

And as we think and act for the long term these days, we've also added the PowderGuide Pinneco insulation jacket - but you won't be able to buy it for a few weeks! There was recently a big pre-announcement in GotW!

And because we'd otherwise get bored, we've revised our store at the same time. It should be online soon, but you know what that means in PG slang... And, no, it's not dependent on the incidence figures. As long as these are so low, you can still store in our existing shop. And you can guess which PowderGuide Penguin product is next (not part of the competition)!

Competition with worthwhile Penguin PowderGuide clothing

Back to the competition! As there's plenty of reason to celebrate and we're not celebrating enough at the moment anyway, we've decided to give away a few of these lovely products. All you have to do is answer the following two questions and send an email with the correct answers to totti äd powderguide.com. And please do so by 11.59 pm on March 5, 2021. There is no legal recourse anyway and employees of the global corporations PowderGuide and Penguin will be excluded from the prize draw, but are welcome to test their knowledge and may then receive a consolation prize. Please write the email with the subject: Penguin PowderGuide competition.

The following products

1st prize: Penguin 3L Dermizax Shell Jacket
Depending on the gender of the winner and the availability of the colors, you can choose freely here.
2nd prize: PowderGuide fleece hoodie in storm blue or mahogany red
All sizes and colors are available and there is a free choice between men's and women's models.
3rd prize: PowderGuide T-shirt
The T-shirt is produced with a unisex cut, but is available down to the smallest size XS and therefore also fits all powder skiers.

And now to the questions:

How do you stay as flexible as possible in any activity and any weather?

Wrong answer: By researching the PowderGuide weather and conditions report! But you can almost always find the best powder there... Correct answer could possibly, possibly and possibly be answered in the Penguin film.

What is the best quality feature and at the same time an important element of the Penguin sustainability philosophy?

This should be easy to answer, but for those who don't like reading the whole text, a little tip: Have a look here and take a look around the subpages!

A prize draw will be held for all emails containing the two correct answers. Good luck with that!
