Patagonia Movie Nights 2026

Snow, exercise and stories from the mountains: European tour kicks off in Salzburg

01/10/2026
Sarah-Louise Schaary
What makes a good winter's day? For some it's the perfect turn, for others it's the long ascent or the moment when you sit together at the end of the day. The Patagonia Snow Movie Nights 2026 are dedicated to precisely these facets of winter sports.

More than just a movie night

The Patagonia Snow Movie Nights 2026 are more than just a classic movie night. The Europe-wide tour combines short films about skiing and snowboarding with personal stories, conversations and encounters, turning each tour stop into a unique experience.

A carefully selected series of short films will be shown that tell the story of winter sports from different perspectives: From the quiet fascination of a perfectly pulled turn to the artisanal and artistic side of alpine culture to the physical and mental challenges of steep backcountry lines. The films focus less on top sporting performances and more on the question of what movement in the snow gives us - and why these places are worth protecting.

In conversation

A central element of the Snow Movie Nights are the changing special guests who characterize the evenings depending on the location. Patagonia ambassadors, filmmakers or local actors from the snow community are on site at individual tour stops. They provide insights into the making of the films, talk about their personal relationship with winter sports and share experiences from different regions and disciplines. The discussions will be complemented by partner organizations and local NGOs who will draw attention to the protection of Alpine habitats and the sustainable use of winter. In addition to the film screenings, the Snow Movie Nights offer space for exchange: filmmakers, Patagonia Ambassadors and partner organizations talk about their projects, personal approaches to winter sports and why the protection of winter natural spaces is more important today than ever.

Drinks & Hangout

End the evening with a drink of your choice. Exchange ideas with other visitors from the snow community and participants in a cozy atmosphere. We from PowderGuide will also be there in Salzburg and we look forward to seeing you!

The movie selection

Le Moulin des Artistes - Director: Pierre Cadot

Some people earn their living with their craft. Others can't live without it. In a 16th century mill in the Chamonix valley, Peter and Anati run Le Moulin des Artistes, a ski workshop, an art space and a meeting place for like-minded free spirits.

Simple as a Turn - Director: Pierre Cadot

For Nicholas Wolken, the turn is more than just the basis of snowboarding. It is the simplest expression of what snowboarding is all about. From his professional career to the development of snowboards specifically designed for turns, he has spent much of his life seeking the intense feeling that carving on snow brings.

DIG - Directed by Nicholas Teichrob

Skiing down a 1,200 meter high wall is one thing, but hiking up is a completely different challenge. The difference in altitude is so extreme that even a small snowball can quickly turn into a dangerous avalanche and the snow quality can change unexpectedly within a few steps.
