PowderGuide summerbreak? Not this summer.

There is no such thing as "summer sleep".

Winter is gradually releasing its grip — even for the most dedicated ski mountaineers — and the mountains are revealing their summer face. Green slopes, rugged ridgelines, and blooming alpine meadows are taking the place of winter's white splendor. But the magic of the mountains remains. PowderGuide is shifting its focus too: we’re about more than just powder and ski tours. This summer, we’re taking a conscious step toward exploring the mountains beyond snow — easing into familiar terrain now free of winter’s cover, and discovering what makes it special in a different light.

This past winter brought a wave of exciting developments for us at PowderGuide. From the successful launch of our YouTube channel to our active presence at various events, it’s been a season of growth and momentum. But the real progress hasn’t just been visible from the outside — we’ve also been hard at work behind the scenes, and we’re looking forward to sharing even more exciting updates with you next winter.

Our team has continued to grow, and one thing has become increasingly clear: we don’t go into hibernation once the snow melts. On the contrary, we head into the mountains with the same passion and drive through the warmer months. That said, we’ll gladly admit — the magic of winter in the mountains still holds a special attraction to us.

What you can expect

First things first — don’t worry: PowderGuide is still PowderGuide. We’re not turning into an all-round magazine that covers everything and ends up saying nothing. Our heart still beats for winter, and for everything PowderGuide has always stood for: downhill-focused deep snow enjoyment, grounded in safety, expertise, and pure mountain joy.

That said — or perhaps because of it — we don’t see summer as a pause, but as a meaningful extension of the winter season.
Summer in the mountains isn’t just about training for winter (though it helps with that too) — it’s also incredibly fun and full of adventure. Climbing, biking, hiking, mountaineering — these activities not only keep you fit, but build skills that translate directly to safer, more confident winter missions. Rope handling, endurance, navigation, and surefootedness are just a few abilities that pay off when the terrain turns white again. And let’s be honest: a sunlit summit or a flowing alpine descent in July can feel every bit as rewarding as a powder turn in January.

Safety has always been at the core of our philosophy — and that doesn't change just because the snow melts.
This summer, we’re expanding our content to include practical tips and knowledge for safe mountain adventures year-round. From rope techniques and abseiling skills to essential gear for trail running, we’re carrying our winter mindset into summer terrain.

And of course, we’re staying true to our downhill-oriented roots.
Whether it's riding back to the valley on two wheels, rappelling with a rope, or discovering other creative ways to descend, we’ll explore the best summer lines that still honor that love of vertical movement.

Finally, because summer isn’t just about performance but also about lightness and joy, we’ll take you along on a few laid-back holiday stories — not always strictly alpine, but always unmistakably PowderGuide.

So get ready for a summer full of variety — with knowledge, inspiration, a bit of humor, and a whole lot of mountain love.

And now it’s your turn — we’re on the hunt for the best “Kaspressknödel”!

To wrap things up, let’s talk about something for the soul — or more precisely, the stomach.

Because honestly, what’s a perfect day in the mountains without a hearty stop at a mountain hut? This summer, we’re teaming up with you to find the ultimate Kaspressknödelalm!
Whether it's a hidden gem or a beloved classic — share your favorite hut in the comments, the one where the Kaspressknödel are simply unbeatable.

We’ll gather your recommendations and open up the voting soon — because let’s face it: good food is part of the mountain experience.
