Steel cartridges for ABS avalanche airbag recalled

by Tobias Kurzeder 10/31/2011
All compressed gas steel cartridges for the ABS avalanche airbag with a filling date between September 1, 2008 and April 15, 2010 for the ABS TwinBag must be replaced.

All compressed gas steel cartridges for the ABS avalanche airbag with a fill date between September 1, 2008 and April 15, 2010 for the ABS TwinBag must be replaced.

Because the safety of ABS customers must not be compromised, ABS has already changed the production process and is recalling all steel cartridges with a filling date between September 1, 2008 and April 15, 2010. The filling date can be found together with the weight information on the round sticker on the cartridge (see picture). This only affects steel cartridges for the ABS TwinBag, cartridges for other ABS systems are not affected.

Dealers are requested to check their stock and return the affected goods to ABS for exchange. Under no circumstances may affected cartridges be passed on to end customers.

ABS customers are requested to exchange the affected steel cartridges free of charge at the ABS dealer of their choice in the period from October 15, 2011 to January 31, 2012.

Opportunity for free training activation

This opportunity can also be used for a training activation of the ABS system. ABS dealers will replace the empty trigger handle and the affected steel cartridge free of charge after use. All dealer addresses can be found at www.abs-airbag.com.
