It's snowing here and there, but nothing is coming that will suddenly flip the switch and make us hurl energy shower anglicisms. As already stated in Alert 1 - it's wintering in. At least it will continue like this all week, but more on that in the medium term.
The situation is completely different in the Pyrenees and the mountains further west in Spain! It's a real bear there and maybe a real base for Christmas, so that you have other options than the Alps. This far south, the powder season tends to be limited to the dark part of the winter.
Alert period and areas
The alert goes along the entire northern Alpine arc, from the Hautes Alpes in the west to the very east of Felix Austria, with the focus on the Hautes Alpes, central Switzerland to Arlberg and the Salzkammergut. As it always tends to be a bit of a soup, I think it depends more on local conditions than on large-scale things.
The alert is in place until Tuesday evening.
