PowderAlert 8 2016/17 | Follow-up in the north

More powder in the north, hardly any wind!

by Lars Oelmann 01/07/2017
While I was sitting on the plane, Ullr thought to himself: "Oh, skiing with a base like this is nicer, I'll send a load right after. And to make sure I surprise everyone, I'll put more pressure on the models.

Areas and time:
The alert applies from the Alrberg to Styria. Further to the east and west, it will fall below the alert level, but will still be a little above it. Northern France and everything in the south will be left empty-handed.

Wind:
Will be powder-friendly. But that's also a problem, as it will probably cover old drifts.

Snowfall limit and amounts:

Stays below 600m even in the lowlands. Between 20 and 30cm have already fallen in the traffic jam and there is still more to come. A total of 25-40cm will probably fall from the Arlberg to Styria. The core with the highest values will probably extend from Tyrol via Salzburgerland to Styria. I can also imagine 50-60cm or even 70cm in the reservoirs from Tyrol to Styria. So much more than you could see in the models the day before yesterday or yesterday.

Where should I go?

Today, Sunday, meadow or trees, depending on the base. Tomorrow, Monday, you should be able to go higher, but everywhere west of the Salzburger Land probably only with the handbrake on. Otherwise you can do some serious freeriding, but of course check the LLB first.

Medium term:

It doesn't look bad. Further alerts for the north, and this time probably also for the northwest, are likely. So keep making sacrifices at the Ullrschrein so that they bring more than can be seen in the models, as with this alarm.

Powder to the People!

Your Oracle

P.S. Unfortunately, the prediction game is not feasible for this alarm as it has already snowed quite a lot. Sorry
