Now that it has finally turned cold and a few centimetres of snow (mostly up to 30 cm) have already fallen, a second wave is coming, which should sound the alarm in the north and especially in the west.
The snow line is not our problem, as it will snow all the way down, but the temperatures are, as it will not be base-forming snow in combination with wind and cold, because fine cold powder on rocks does not do well in the alpine area.
The amounts will be between 20 and 40 cm in the congested areas from the Bernese Oberland to the deep east of Felix Austria in addition to the amounts that have fallen. This should finally be enough for powder turns on grass. Above the tree line it will be cold, windy, with little or no snow and dangerous. Less will fall towards the main ridge and south.
