King of Dolomites

My eyelids are as heavy as lead, I'm sitting in the bathroom scrubbing my teeth. It's just after 12 and we've just come back from our night tour. I'm sitting there, enjoying the view over the illuminated San Martino di Castrozza and asking myself "were those our best shots yet - do we even stand a chance with them?" The boys are already relaxed in bed and listening to Jeremy Jones talking about the unique lines on Svalbard, raving about lots of snow and good conditions - hopefully we'll find them tomorrow.

Last weekend, the "King of Dolomites" photo contest was held for the third time in San Martino di Castrozza. Once again, 14 professional and over 100 amateur teams had the opportunity to put their riding and photography skills to the test and capture the best moments around the impressive Pala Group.

The winner of our big PG photo competition, Leander Nardin, had the chance to compete in the King of Dolomites on February 20, 2014 with a wild card. His team impressed with an unusual idea and almost managed to get a place on the podium.

The "King of Dolomites" Powder Photo Contest was held for the second time in San Martino di Castrozza. This is a photo competition in which teams of two skiers or snowboarders and a photographer have the opportunity to take the best pictures in the impressive mountain world of the Dolomites over two days to win not only fame and glory, but also valuable prizes!

From February 22nd to 24th, the sleepy Trentino village of San Martino di Castrozza at Passo Rolle became the base camp for the predominantly Italian-speaking freeride community. Ten pro teams, consisting of two well-known freeriders and a photographer, as well as lots of WANNABES and amateur photographers dropped, turned, photographed and smiled on the two days in February. All on the hunt for the freeride shot of the future king of the Dolomites. Contest participant Hanna Finkel was there for PowderGuide.

From February 22 to 24, 2013, the famous vacation village of San Martino di Castrozza at the foot of the Palat Group in the Trentino Dolomites will be transformed into a freeride Eldorado at its finest. Deep snow enthusiasts on two boards, on a board or even heel-free are welcome to join a photographer in tow when it comes to the question: "Who will take the perfect powder shot and become King of the Dolomites - or: The King of Dolomites?"
