The Bavarian Avalanche Warning Service started the season this winter with a new website, which is real news. After all, a good presentation here can lead to greater safety by ensuring that more people read and understand the bulletin.

Countless ideas and observations were put down on paper for the International Snow Science Workshop 2018. One of them was the result of a collaboration between Kristian Rath, an observer at the Bavarian LWD, and the Snow Sturgeon: A schematic overview map of the "core areas" of the ground-level weak layers in the Alpine region and their connection to the tree species distribution.

Friday evening, 7.30 p.m.: Handover of the report at the Bad Hindelang mountain rescue service. I'm now on standby for a week. That means being ready for action in case someone in our service area gets into mountain trouble. This means that I stay at home or in the vicinity of the mountain rescue depot for a week, except when I'm working.
