Freeride tour of the week | Rossbodenstock NW flank
01/17/2016 • Daniel Schweiss
If you take the gondola to Gemsstock and look left in the direction of travel for potential outside the ski area, your eyes will inevitably be drawn to the NW and W flanks of the Rossbodenstock-Badus chain. While the steep western slopes between Rossbodenstock and Piz Badus in the Unteralp are off-limits in winter due to a wildlife sanctuary, the Rossbodenstock NW flank offers a multitude of "legal" lines, almost all of which are steep and interspersed with rocks. Thanks to Swiss engineering, the Rossbodenstock is also easier to reach than you would expect in Andermatt. -

Kick The Vik Eco Freeride Contest: Report
03/24/2013 • Hanna FinkelThe sixth Kick The Vik Eco Freeride Contest took place in the Oberalp region from March 22 to 24, 2013. The riders rate each other's runs and the winner is the one who has received the most votes. -

Kick The Vik Eco Freeride Contest
03/19/2013 • Hanna FinkelThe friendly freeride contest Kick the Vik is taking a step back to its roots this winter season and is bidding farewell as a qualifier for the Freeride World Tour. The most impressive line choice and riding style will also win on the contest day. Freeride World Tour criteria ?! No thanks! Our roving reporter Hanna will be at the start again this year at Powderguide to report for you. -

TouringTip | Oberalp Pass
11/02/2008 • Baschi Bender
Nowhere in the Alps is there currently more snow than in the Gotthard region. And since no ski resorts are open apart from the glaciers, but glacier vultures are not everyone's cup of tea, the Gotthard region is once again a good choice. Because there is the small, fine red train (Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn) that takes tourers up quite far and cheaply. From the Oberalp Pass you then have a whole host of fine ski or snowboard peaks to choose from...
