03/18/2022 • Sebastian MüllerIn the face of the impending spring, we're turning up the volume again in cinema format! A few French productions finally motivate us to explore the Pyrenees and study the language. Otherwise, we get to know Oscar Mandin, Wiley Miller and Hotdog Hans better and spend the rest of the night in Fieberbrunn. So pop some popcorn and open a beer! We wish you good entertainment! -

WeatherBlog 17 2021/22 | Desert air
03/16/2022 • Lea Hartl
The unclouded sunshine is history. Not because winter is making a sustained comeback, but because dust is being stirred up in the Sahara. In keeping with the current drought, we are being supplied with real desert air. A small disturbance is also moving through the north-east today and it is raining or snowing a little, but there are still no significant changes in sight. -

Videos of the Week #9 2021/22 | Other low mountain ranges
01/21/2022 • Sebastian MüllerOf course, the Alps are our favorite. But hold on! Other regions of Central Europe also have beautiful mountains, with mostly relaxing and sometimes exciting terrain and descents. Regional ski touring in the nearest low mountain range was the new discovery and rediscovery par excellence at the height of the pandemic: Badisch Columbia 2021! We stay at home and head east, north, west and south. There's snow everywhere and hopefully freedom to travel again soon. -

ContestHappening 3 2021 | It actually took place!
02/28/2021 • Tobias HuberThe Freeride World Tour kicked off the 2021 season with two contests. In Ordino-Arcalis (Andorra), the two competitions were held a few days apart on the same face. Although the snow conditions and the length of the face did not give rise to any great expectations, the riders delivered an exciting event that was good to watch. -

World of Science | Review ISSW2018: Avalanche accidents
02/20/2020 • Lea Hartl
The International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW) brings together scientists and practitioners from a wide range of snow-related fields every two years. Videos of the Week #7 2019/20 | Couloir for the New Year
01/03/2020 • Sebastian MüllerSeems like the first skiers are already secretly hiding in their favorite couloirs during these days with less snow. At least that's what the successful YT search for this special terrain suggests! Presented here: steep descents from the Pyrenees, the Rockies, Scandinavia and, of course, the Alps! We learn how to ski couloirs without using poles or hand straps! -

¡Viva los Pirineus! - ¡Visca els Pirineus!
10/24/2017 • Christian SkalaAt the latest when the first colleagues start raving about their distant travel destinations and then end their remarks with the unavoidable "and yours?", you quickly realize that you are once again far too late with your vacation planning. Almost apologetically, we therefore replied this year "oh, something unspectacular, probably just Europe, like last year - due to the time... too late with planning." -

WeatherBlog 12 2016/17 | High pressure until further notice
01/17/2017 • Lea Hartl
The recent snowfall in the northern Alps will now be followed by a phase of high pressure with calm, mostly sunny weather. Fresh snow is only expected in the mountains of southern Europe for the time being. We are also taking a look at the North Pole this week, inspired by a user question.
