Visible from afar, the Weißseespitze rises above the Kaunertal glacier ski area. The north face is often climbed in early summer and is also extremely popular with ice climbers.
Ascent
First descend a little from the Weißseeferner lifts and cross eastwards into the area below the north face. From here, ascend directly through the wall. The ascent is already steep in the lower section, flattens out a little before the summit wall and then becomes much steeper again. At its steepest point, the wall reaches approx. 50°, but the gradient is mostly around 45°. The wall merges into a convex summit plateau. The summit cross is located a few meters behind the highest point on a small rock structure.
Other ascent variants lead from the Weißseeferner lifts via the west ridge and from the Nörderjoch 2 lift via the Gepatschferner. The conditions on the north face can usually only be reliably assessed on the direct ascent through the wall.
Descent
Like the ascent back to the ski area.
If the conditions on the north face are not ideal, you can ski down just above the "Zahn" in the direction of the Nörderjoch 2 lift, or via the Munich variant or "Kleine Gepatschzunge" via the Gepatschferner further down into the valley.
