Ascent
To shorten the ascent to the 2646m high Rosskogel, it is best to take the Rangger Köpfl gondola lift and the T-bar lift to just below the summit of the Rangger Köpfl (1939m). From there, ski or skate in a south-westerly direction to the Krimpenbachsattel. In fresh snow, it may also be advisable, especially for splitboarders, to put the skins on at Rangger Köpfl.
The ascent continues from the saddle in a south-westerly direction towards the north ridge of the Rosskogel. While powder snow will hopefully still be waiting in the Rosskogel gully, the ascent to the ridge of the Windegg can often be very blown off and may even require you to put on crampons. Once at the ridge, ascend on skis as far as possible and without losing altitude to the start of the north ridge and unbuckle at a suitable point.
