Videos of the week #12 2024/25 | Going East by train

An oriental journey by train, B & E in the park - and a journey into the past

02/14/2025
Hannes Hemper
This week I'm launching a new sub-category: the History Lesson, in which I show must-watch videos from the past. It starts with a snowboard film that even inspired Candide. There's also a really nice project from Arc'teryx and a dose of style from Henrik and Phil aka B & E.

Video 1: Arc'teryx Presents: Going East

Goal: As far east as possible - using only public transport. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Loic, Joi, Silvia and Max are travelling for three weeks. The four of them meet up in Tarvisio, Italy, and discover beautiful powder days between the trees, breathtaking sunsets in Romania and, above all, a newfound mindfulness for the moments in between. Hats off to the impressive shots, the locations and the great editing!

Video 2: Backcountry snowboarding is more fun with friends von Gimbal God aka Spencer Whiting

Spenny was even seen in front of the camera himself this week when he competed in Kings and Queens - see Contest of the Week below. The boy can do both! Here he is in Whistler with the sleds - and man, are these dream conditions! These follow cams are simply in a class of their own.

Video 3: Fischer Tour | The Chase

"The Chase" follows backcountry athlete Blake Keogh on his year-long journey through the winter. Using his 1971 Scotty Camper as a base camp, he explores the mountains of the US East Coast in search of snow, solitude and community. The film combines skiing with mental health and shows how deep the relationship between man and nature can be.

Video 4: LO & BEHOLD | Henrik Harlaut and Brady Perron

Brady was a professional skier himself and is known for his unique style. Nowadays he is behind the lens and started his first major project Be Inspired over ten years ago together with Henrik. Since then, he has produced videos for Monster, The North Face and many top athletes. He knows exactly what looks good - and only has the most stylish in front of his lens. A journey through the X Games, the Streets and the Kimbo Session.

Video 5: B-Dog - Found My Niche

Phil is a must with Henrik. In the past, he has won the X Games twice together with Brady and now also edits many videos himself. Here is a street clip with humour and his girlfriend.

Video 6: Motion von Taiyo Nakanishi und Yasuyuki Shimanuki

Hokkaido in Motion by the 4FRNT athletes. A short film to dream about - no more words are needed.

Video 7: FRÉQUENCES | A film by Méribel | 4K

Discover Fréquences, the award-winning short film from Méribel that captures the passion of Jérémy Prévost in winter - from day to night. The film plays with natural and artificial light contrasts and immerses us in an endless winter cycle.

Video 8: Hokkaido Dreams|The Ultimate Freeride Ski Adventure in Japan with Aymar Navarro & Léo Slemett

I can't take it anymore - just Japan, Japan, Japan! Avalanche fences, deep powder, classic Hokkaido, but with the flair of the freeride world tour legends.

Contest of the week: KINGS & QUEENS OF CORBET'S 2025 - LIVE

Who doesn't love watching the best jump into the Corbet's Couloir in Jackson Hole? The contest is in its fifth round and gets crazier every year. Doubles are now the norm. Highlights: Alex Hackel with a handdrag 7 stomped, Colby Stefens with a 180 into the bounce 540 - Kimbo knuckle style. Sometimes a bit bumpy in the livestream, but it's worth tuning in and picking out the best clips

History Lesson: SUBJEKT HAAKONSEN 1996 von Dave Seoane

A look at the life and times of Terje Haakonsen - from the beginning of his career to the madness of the 90s. See why Terje is considered the best in the world and why even Candide is inspired by him. This film is a must for every winter sports enthusiast.
