Videos of the Week #6 2021/22 | Alpine Club Review

The Alpine clubs in the social moving image

by Sebastian Müller 12/31/2021
We elegantly bridge the barren heat period between the years with the annual scouting of the Alpine clubs' YouTube channels. These show a lot about how they see themselves. Some are in their infancy, neglected and antiquated, and some are packed with fancy content that our modern society so desperately needs.

Planinska Sveza Slovenije (PZS, 226 subs (+92))

There has never really been much going on here, but you always find something interesting. This year the somewhat exotic discipline of ski touring races for us.

Swiss Alpine Club (SAC, 435 subs (+129))

We are only guests in the mountains. Be considerate of the species that are on tour every year and for life!

Fédération française des clubs alpins et de montagne (FFCAM, 932 Subs (+469))

You renovate a hut with a helicopter, construction crane, shovel loader, excavator and, of course, photovoltaics! Otherwise there are webinars here in a language I don't understand.

Austrian Alpine Association (ÖAV, 9.88K Subs (+3.6K))

The first vegetarian hut in the Alps. Visionary or scandalous? With basecamp, the ÖAV has successfully implemented the podcast format (formerly called talkshow).

Avalanche update 2021/22

Club Italiano Alpino (CAI, 11.9K Subs (+1.4K))

Nostalgic, old-fashioned and manly, you long for the old heroes.

But lo and behold, the CAI can also be progressive and shows what inclusion in hiking can look like. Bravo!

German Alpine Club (DAV, 14.1K subs (+2.2K))

Climate, yoga, cooking, comedy, Olympics! The DAV is as diverse as the finished product section in the supermarket.
