PowderAlerts
PowderAlert 10 2024/25 | Eastern Promises.
03/28/2025 • Lars OelmannThe Austrian national anthem describes this season well "Since early ancestral days borne the burden of a high mission, much-tested Austria. Much-tested Austria." -
PowderAlerts
PowderAlert 9 2024/25 | Infinite Glop©!
03/21/2025 • Lars OelmannYay! another alert, but it's probably getting too warm. The last alert was perfect, but this one is just glop©* *the © is silent and is only important because PowderGuide owns all registered naming rights to this water-saturated fresh snow. -

PowderAlert 8 2024/25 | Snow for everyone! (Ok, almost everyone...)
03/12/2025 • Lars OelmannWell, after warming up with the alert limit in Alert 7, Ullr our favorite god finally gives us some real snow. The only downer: it snows the most where there is little snow and where the foundation of the snowpackis rather dangerous.

WeatherBlog 20 2024/25 | Changeable spring weather, World Glacier Day
03/26/2025 • Lea HartlThe period of southern storms is over and this week we are dealing with slightly early April weather. A mix of sun and clouds and a few showers here and there characterize the picture. Winter might make a comeback over the weekend! -

WeatherBlog 19 2024/25 | Powdery dreams and fatal nightmares
03/19/2025 • Sebastian MüllerBoth the participants of the PowderGuide final meeting in Engelberg and Mose in the border triangle fully enjoyed the last snowfalls. Elsewhere, unfortunately, there was also slow glop paired with dangerous avalanche conditions. An intermediate high is currently giving us spring fever again, but will be replaced by a southerly flow with lots of precipitation at the weekend. We hope this will bring another PowderAlert, although the state of the precipitation seems to be more liquid than fluffy. -

WeatherBlog 18 2024/25 | Refresh at last, at least in the south
03/12/2025 • Lea HartlTwo PowderAlerts after a long drought! And at least in parts of the Alps, it's continuing to be reasonably wintry! The south in particular is benefiting from a relatively stationary area of low pressure that lies diagonally over Spain and France and is repeatedly producing südstau this week. In the north (east), the amounts remain lower and will not significantly improve the snow conditions, but will hopefully at least alleviate the acute risk of forest fires.

SnowFlurry 2 2023/24 | Avalanches in the forest
02/24/2024 • Vinzent Letzner"Nothing can happen in the forest." - This is probably one of the most widespread misconceptions among skiers. It is true that statistically there are fewer avalanche accidents in the forest. However, those who are lulled into a false sense of security are unconsciously taking a high risk and acting carelessly. In today's SnowFlurries we therefore take a look at how the forest influences snowpack stability and what skiers need to bear in mind. -

SnowFlurry 1 2023/24 | Christmas thaw
02/04/2024 • Lydia KnappeFortunately, this season got off to a very snowy start and provided a good foundation. It stayed that way until shortly before Christmas. The so-called Christmas thaw materialised just in time for Christmas. -

SnowFlurry 3 2022/23 | The Arlberg effect
02/25/2023 • Stefanie HöppergerIn this rummage, we take a closer look at the so-called Arlberg effect and its impact on avalanche danger. As this effect does not only occur on the Arlberg, we refer to it more generally as the "effect of off-piste descents".

totti_PG27.02.2025, 11:28 hThe weather forecast has been running reliably for a few days now and provides the data for Europe at around 6.30 am our time. The data for the rest of the world will follow at around 10.30 a.m. after the necessary computing power! We are working on improving this even further!Translated from German.

bergjunge09.02.2025, 22:31 hNice, thank you!Translated from German.

totti_PG07.02.2025, 09:36 hWeather forecast is up to date again. And if you're planning your next trip to the USA or Japan or South America or Kashmir, then zoom out of the map! More about the new weather soon in the news!Translated from German.
-
totti_PG07.02.2025, 07:12 hAs some of you probably already noticed yesterday, the new release of the weather has been running since yesterday - we will inform you about the new features in a news item soon. However, the automatic update did not start tonight :( We are working on it and will get the problem under control! Please excuse the delay for today's forecast!Translated from German.

Benni_Supernova03.12.2024, 13:52 h...a brief comment on your actually very good new weather map: place names appear relatively late on the map when zooming in, and are sometimes difficult to read due to the overlay of the shaded mountain profile. This could certainly be optimized a little ;-)Translated from German.

totti_PG03.12.2023, 15:36 hHi freerider13, This definitely has nothing to do with inability! We have hidden them so well that they are no longer there ;) We have decided to concentrate on the colorful content for the time being and leave out the content that is just as easy to get elsewhere. But there may be something weather-related to read again in the future!Translated from German.

freerider1303.12.2023, 10:40 hI like the new map features. But how do I get to the weather forecast as text? I think I'm too stupid for that...Translated from German.

sebastian_pg28.11.2023, 17:08 h@jared: The legend, i.e. the colorbar with unit, should be at the bottom right next to the weather model. Or what are you missing the legend for?Translated from German.
-
jared28.11.2023, 14:52 hhey really great the new features, what I'm missing is a legend !!!Translated from German.

sebastian_pg28.11.2023, 14:09 hSaturday 02.12. is a good example of uncertain forecast conditions. Ensemble minimum and maximum vary greatly, especially in the mountains around the Adriatic. But if all goes well, the south side of the Alps will also get its base, and maybe a powder alert!Translated from German.
