And of course, you (almost) always need a midlayer, as winter sports tend to be cooler. This is where the advantages of the high-quality (and expensive) material become apparent. Although not too thick, the Aconcagua jacket is really warm, relatively breathable and thanks to its stretch properties it fits close to the body. All in all it is very comfortable to wear.
I have recently been able to call an Aconcagua ML in bright red my own and use this versatile fleece jacket for various activities, such as skiing, touring, walking around or even running. The smooth outer surface is quite robust, but practically does not keep out the wind - a classic mid-layer. The Aconcagua is certainly on the warmer side for fleece jackets. I have partially dispensed with an additional layer - on colder days I normally wear a thin down jacket or vest - as the Aconcagua keeps me warm enough.
