Due to the flu, today is more of a short weather update than a full-fledged WeatherBlog.
Current situation
Two things are currently relevant for the Alps. Firstly, the cold air mass in the east, which we are currently tapping into through an altitude low, and secondly, a developing Italian low. The cold air means that it is cold and will remain so for the time being. Where it is snowing, the snow is very loose. The flow has been to the north in the last few days and the eastern accumulation areas in particular have not been badly served in terms of fresh snow. The Italian low means that things are getting exciting again for the south.
Outlook
A group of small low-pressure centers over northern Italy is making common cause with the high-altitude low, which is moving south from central Europe along with cold air. Together, they will provide the south with accumulated precipitation at the weekend. From today's perspective, a PowderAlert could be on the cards for the southwest, maybe our colleague Orakel will get in touch. The further development remains to be seen, it should get a little warmer at the beginning of the week.
