Gear reviews | Bergans Myrkdalen Jacket and Hafslo Pants
Christian Skala • 03/04/2016The Bergans alpine and telemark collection is specially designed for skiing and alpine activities in terms of materials and style and advertises a feel-good all-round carefree winter package. It promises high breathability as well as wind and waterproofness, which is guaranteed by 3-layer Dermizax. I was able to test whether the collection delivers what it promises in outdoor use. -

Freeride tour of the week | Grubereck
Christian Skala • 12/13/2015Small but beautiful ski tour south of Lake Tegernsee, which offers almost everything from dense forest to fine alpine meadows. After the ascent, you are rewarded with a magnificent view to the south of the Blaubergkamm and the Central Massif and to the east of the Risserkogel and Blankenstein. -

Kirgyzstan, Kyrgizstan or Kyrgyzstan
Christian Skala • 10/07/2015Kirgyzstan, Kyrgizstan, Kyrgyzstan: No matter how you turn it around, or write or speak about it - if you mention this vacation destination, you will mostly be met with puzzled looks. Either because the other person has no idea where the country in question is located, or because they don't understand what you are doing in such a remote country. It was precisely this lack of understanding that strengthened our decision to spend our vacation in Kyrgyzstan (we opted for this option), more precisely in the Tian Shan. -

Freeride tour of the week | Taferlnock
Christian Skala • 12/28/2014The first impression of this tour is not the best: by car past the ski Eldorado Flachauwinkel and then the starting point below the Tauern bridge at the north portal of the Tauern tunnel. After just a few meters, however, you are completely away from the hustle and bustle and noise and are rewarded with beautiful, not too steep slopes. -

Review |The Lyngen Alps: Skiing, Climbing, Trekking
Christian Skala • 12/19/2014The Lyngen Alps between the Ullsfjord / Sörfjord and the Lyngenfjord, with their sharp peaks, narrow ridges and crests, are undoubtedly one of the wildest, most alpine and least developed mountain regions in Scandinavia. There are numerous opportunities for ski tours, climbing and trekking in the breathtaking and lonely landscape, which leaves nothing to be desired at any level of difficulty. -

Ski tours in the land of the fjords | Lyngen Alps
Christian Skala • 12/05/2014The whole world is talking about ski tours in Norway: Beautiful shots and lots of rave reviews - or is it all just a commercial trend that shouldn't be followed blindly just because it no longer seems spectacular enough in the local mountains? We decided to see for ourselves and packed our bags for 10 days of ski touring in the Lyngen Alps... -

Gear reviews | Bergans Hodlekve ABS backpack
Christian Skala • 04/04/2014The topic of safety in freeride sports is becoming increasingly important. In addition to standard equipment, additional protection with airbag backpacks is increasingly in demand, which is why Bergans decided to launch an avalanche airbag backpack on the market this season. The Hodlekve ABS backpack is intended as a freeride backpack and is designed to be minimalist and lightweight with a volume of 15 liters, but with just enough space to carry everything you need. -

Freeride tour of the week | Punta Penia - Parete Nord
Christian Skala • 02/23/2014The Marmolada not only has a lot to offer climbers, skiers also get their money's worth on this mighty ridge. A particular highlight for steep face skiers is the north face of the highest peak, Punta Penia.
