The Working Group of Austrian Avalanche Warning Services has published its seasonal report for winter 2016/17. As always, the report contains not only statistical evaluations of the past avalanche winter, but also many detailed and impressively illustrated reports on specific accidental avalanches. In addition to the LWDs of the Austrian federal states, the SLF, the LWD Bavaria and the LWD South Tyrol are also represented with guest contributions.

With the Patrol series, Evoc has backpacks in its program that cover practically the entire touring range in sizes 32, 40 and 55l. While the "small" 30l Patrol is ideal for extended day tours, the medium 40l model is not only suitable for very material-intensive activities, but also for multi-day tours with overnight stays in winter shelters, for example. The Patrol 55l is recommended for camping tours or very long trips with lots of gear.

The Austrian Alpine Association is once again offering evening lectures to get in the mood for the ski season, where winter sports enthusiasts can update their avalanche knowledge.

Snow & Safety has established itself as an event to get the season off to a good start in Lech-Zürs. On December 1st and 2nd, there is an extensive range of courses and training sessions that can be attended for a fee. The varied lecture program in the evening is free of charge and open to everyone, even without registration.

We are delighted to be able to offer a place at the training session, the next level camp and the end-of-season chillout again this year together with risk'n'fun. risk'n'fun is the training program of the Alpine Club Youth. In addition to learning technical skills, the freeride camps also focus on "human" topics such as group dynamics and personal risk perception.

The European emergency number 112, also known as Euronotruf, is valid in all EU countries, as well as in many neighboring countries and all Alpine countries (Switzerland). In the USA and Canada, 112 is redirected to the local 911 emergency number.

The glacier ski areas are gradually opening pistes and lifts and some people are certainly already tempted by the glaciers without pistes and lifts - they are already white. To coincide with the crevasse season (also known as fall), the French mountain guide school ENSA has published an informative and very interesting video on the subject of braking knots.

The European Outdoor Film Tour is on the road again! As in previous years, we are once again giving away 4x2 tickets to give you the chance to be there when the athletes present their most exciting outdoor adventures in several short films.

Film tip for the people of Innsbruck: On Saturday, October 7, the premiere of the film "Wilkommen in unserer Welt" will take place at the Leokino. The organizers Astrid, Linda and Mel will present impressions from the past winter with their 15 ski students from the home for unaccompanied minor refugees (umF) in Scharnitz. There will also be a photo exhibition on the project. The film will be followed by an oriental buffet.

The first autumn snowfalls have brought at least a brief chill to the glaciers, you need a headlamp again for your after-work bike tour and there is pumpkin soup everywhere - that can only mean one thing: winter is just around the corner. PowderGuide is also starting the season.
