below 1500m there is little or nothing to do in the terrain.snow lies on the north side from approx. 1200m. you still need a ski slope to get into the valley, or a correspondingly high starting point, such as the high southern side valleys in the lechtal. from there, all the described tours are feasible. however, the well-known mountain pine belts are always a source of pure joy and train the technical skills of the ski mountaineer immensely, both in the ascent and in the descent.

everything, except expo north, is now somehow capped. either by wind and/or sun, or temperatures above freezing. yesterday the 0° limit was above 2500m, also on the north side! the pow is now.., on all of the described and easy to reach tours, the pow is now covered in snow and places significantly higher demands on the skiing technique than in "normal" years, both on the ascent (skin adhesion) and on the descent (breaking crust, icy slabs, mogul-like conditions, ...). beginners should definitely bear this in mind this coming weekend.

Risks

on both days we found an extremely stable, homogeneous snow cover in the area (Boden and gramais) on the north side. ects at approx. 2000m, expo north, in the stalk terrain, showed a snow depth of >1m. no hard layers are embedded. even on the ground there is only a minimal amount of snow that has been built up and transformed. no break propagation was observed.the tirol 1, with drift snow >2400m and old snow, in very steep, shady slopes with little snow, can be fully confirmed.

hey guys, there's enough snow for ski tours (i've experienced other januaries). the weather is stable and very good. the risk of avalanches is minimal. so i would advise you to take advantage of the current situation and to do so quickly, because it gets a little worse every day. there's no fresh snow in sight for the time being.
