Arc'teryx Academy: Avalanche Awareness & Safety with RECCO

Together with event partner RECCO, you will be shown how the specific locating system, which is already built into many pieces of equipment, works in the field.

The avalanche safety clinic focuses on the details of companion rescue. It's about the right equipment, your rescue, and of course, decision-making skills. In addition to training in companion rescue, you'll also get an insight into organized avalanche rescue.

General information

  • Skill level: All skill levels

  • Language: German/ English

  • Day and time: Thursday, February 05, 08:30 a.m.

  • Duration: Full day

  • Group ratio: 4-6 participants

  • Frequency: Course takes place daily from Thursday to Sunday (booking required)

Learning objectives

  • Gain insight into what it takes to carry out a rescue - including the use of the avalanche transceiver, probing techniques, and efficient shovelling.

  • In addition, you will learn some basics of first aid for avalanche victims.

Equipment

  • Ski pass

  • RECCO Reflector (included in your goody bag)

  • Ski/snowboard

  • Ski poles

  • Bindings

  • Ski/snowboard boots

  • Sufficient warm clothing for a day on the mountain, expect temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius

  • Jacket, trousers, midlayer & Underwear

  • Helmet

  • Gloves

  • Backpack* included: Avalanche probe, avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel (metal)

*Avalanche airbag backpacks are recommended but not mandatory

Skill level

  • All freeride skill levels are welcome

  • Participants should be able to ski or snowboard safely on black pistes.

Costs

  • 190€**


    **The ski pass is not included in the course price and must be purchased directly from the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
