Arc'teryx Academy: Freeride Snowboarding Fundamentals

In this clinic, you'll hone your skills while broadening your understanding of off-piste terrain. From deep snow techniques to line identification, we'll provide you with the knowledge and skills to step your freeride game up another level — alongside technique analysis to provide feedback on what's working and what can be improved. This course is conducted both on-piste and off-piste.

Learning objectives

  • Building on existing skills and introducing new techniques for navigating different terrain. The focus is on having fun and improving technical skills.

Equipment

  • Ski pass

  • Snowboard, snowboard boots

  • Suitable clothing in which you can spend a day on the mountain (expect sub-zero temperatures): Jacket, trousers, midlayer & functional underwear

  • Helmet

  • Backpack* including: avalanche probe
    Avalanche transceiver (LVS)
    Avalanche shovel (metal)

*Avalanche airbag backpacks are recommended but not essential


Skill level

This course is aimed at participants with some freeride experience who feel comfortable in unprepared terrain and want to develop their skills. The prerequisite is safe snowboarding in unprepared terrain in different snow conditions.

Costs

  • €190**

**The ski pass is not included in the course price and must be purchased directly from the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
