Arc'teryx Academy: Ski Touring "Arlberg-style" (Ski)

Ski touring "Arlberg style" means maximum downhill, minimum uphill.

By combining and linking various lifts to keep the ski touring brief, this clinic shows you the tips and tricks of easy access freeriding that St. Anton am Arlberg is famous for. Anticipate refining techniques to safely explore the backcountry of the Arlberg region.

Learning objectives

  • Build on existing skills and introduce new techniques for navigating different terrain.

  • Fun and improvement of technical skills take centre stage.

Equipment

  • Ski pass

  • Touring skis

  • Skins

  • Ski poles

  • Touring bindings

  • Touring ski boots

  • Sufficient warm clothing for a day on the mountain, expect temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius

  • Jacket, trousers, midlayer & underwear

  • Helmet

  • Gloves

  • Backpack* included: Avalanche probe, avalanche transceiver (avalanche transceiver), avalanche shovel (metal)

*Avalanche airbag backpacks are recommended but not mandatory

Skill level

  • This course is aimed at participants with some ski touring experience who feel comfortable in unprepared terrain and want to develop their skills.

  • Participants should be able to ascend for around two hours (600 vertical metres) on skins with touring skis and be able to ski safely in unprepared terrain in different snow conditions.

Costs

  • 190€**

**The ski pass is not included in the course price and must be purchased directly from the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
