Learn how to interpret weather and avalanche forecasts beyond just the colors, pack your bag with the essentials, and use your equipment with confidence. The session emphasizes making informed decisions in the mountains while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Learning objectives

  • Dive deeper into the avalanche forecast

  • How to pack your bag

  • How to use your equipment (beacon, shovel, probe!) and take it all to the mountains for an epic day of skiing

  • Suitable clothing in which you can spend a day on the mountain (expect sub-zero temperatures): Jacket, pants, midlayer & functional underwear

Skill Level

Designed to create safe spaces to learn, these clinics aim to empower women in the mountains. Learn and network with other women led by our female ski and snowboard guides. Learn the foundational skills behind backcountry touring in this clinic designed by Arc’teryx expert guides. In this course, created by experienced Arc'teryx guides, you will learn the basics of backcountry touring. Participants should be able to

  • Ascend for around two hours (600 hm) on touring skis / splitboard

  • Safe and controlled skiing on black slopes is required for the descent

  • Experience off-piste is an advantage

  • **The ski pass is not included in the price of the clinic and must be purchased through the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
