Arc'teryx athlete Tonje Kvivik takes you into the mindset of a professional freerider. The perspective: How to become a creative and strong rider while avoiding unnecessary risks. You will learn how to prepare for a big mountain line with calmness and composure. It's also about being able to assess your surroundings, the terrain and the conditions. Maximize your fun, flow and creativity.

Learning objectives

Arc'teryx athlete Tonje Kvivik shows you how freeride pros choose creative lines without taking unnecessary risks.

  • How to prepare a big mountain line - the day before from home

  • What you need in your backpack for big mountain days

  • Where to get information and who to ask questions to before you head into the backcountry

  • How to capture a line the smart way

  • How to ascend a big slope, find your way down and ski down playfully

Equipment

  • Ski pass

  • Skis

  • Poles

  • Suitable clothing in which you can spend a day on the mountain (expect sub-zero temperatures): Jacket, pants, midlayer & functional underwear

  • Helmet

  • Gloves

  • Backpack with: Avalanche probe, avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel (metal), ideally with airbag

Skill level

Designed to create safe spaces to learn, these clinics aim to empower women in the mountains. Learn and network with other women led by our female ski and snowboard guides. Learn how to use advanced freeride skills to creatively explore any terrain in this advanced freeride clinic created and led by Arc’teryx’ expert guides. Strong off-piste and ski touring experience is expected, and knowledgeable, safe technique in open and steep terrain over 40 degrees is required.

Costs

  • **The ski pass is not included in the price of the clinic and must be purchased through the ski resort. We recommend doing this in advance to avoid queues.
