Voluntary recall: Ortovox LiTRIC

Recall of the new airbags after problems with deployment

12/12/2022
PowderGuide
Ortovox is recalling the Litric airbag backpacks. In some cases, the recently introduced electronic airbags have problems with the blower unit. For this reason, Ortovox is voluntarily recalling all Avabag LiTRIC models (Avabag LiTRIC Tour, Avabag LiTRIC Freeride, Avabag LiTRIC Zero) including the zip-ons.

The recall only affects the LiTRIC models. The Avabags with cartridge system are not affected. Further information on the recall can be found on the Ortovox website. Ortovox and Arc'teryx have jointly developed the LiTRIC system, but as far as we know, the Arc'teryx backpack models have not yet been on sale. Revised backpacks with the LiTRIC system should be available from the 23/24 season.

Statement from Ortovox:

"The development process includes rigorous testing to not only meet industry standards, but often exceed them where technically possible. Working closely together, the Ortovox and Arc'teryx development teams are now investing the necessary time to ensure that LiTRIC™ technology meets the high quality and performance standards for which Ortovox and Arc'teryx are known. Both brands are therefore ending the sale of all products with LiTRIC™ technology for the 22/23 season and aim to resume sales for the 23/24 season."
