In perfect mountain weather, both the 2-star Freeride Juniors (age group 14 to 17
years) and the Freeride World Qualifier 1-star competition on the Hochkönig, which had been moved here from the Hochkar due to heavy fog, took place.
As in the two previous years, the slope on the Aberg near the Stoana Mandl was chosen as the contest face.
The snow conditions were reasonable and the good visibility ensured good conditions.
After accreditation, riders meeting and face check, the competition started at 10:30.
To speed up the process, juniors and qualifier riders took turns. Very good runs were shown in both age groups: fast, fluid runs were made even more exciting with drops and tricks such as front and back flips.
For the spectators, there was not only a great view of the contest slope in the audience area at the pump station, but also music and moderation by Kai Unterrainer.
In the end, Luca Beran was crowned the winner in the junior men's ski category, while Maria Sofia Frenandemez stood on the podium in the women's ski category. Csongor Armin Szasz came first in the men's snowboard category. Unfortunately, no junior snowboarders competed, so be sure to join us at the next contest, girls!
Christian Gaderer won the men's ski category in the 1* FWQ, while Claudia Klobasa took the women's ski title.
In the women's snowboard category, Michaela Josephine Veit took victory in her very first contest, while Andreas Zweibrot was successful in the men's snowboard category.
