After a break of several weeks, the Open Faces series is back and the higher-class 3* events are now all about overall victory. The German-speaking freeride community is currently looking forward to the Stubai Glacier, where a 3-star qualifier of the Freeride World Tour will be held for the first time on February 23. There are some very well-known names from the Austrian scene on the start list: World Tour riders Flo Orley, Max Zipser and Lorraine Huber have announced their attendance, as have the great Austrian hopes Simon Wohlgenannt, Martin Rofner, Alex Hoffmann and Angelika Kaufmann. The 67 freeriders on the start list for the OPEN FACES Stubai also include many other young ski and snowboard talents from Austria and abroad. It promises to be an exciting contest on the Stubai Egesengrat. Flo Orley (snowboard men) and Lorraine Huber (ski women) are currently leading the qualifier rankings in their categories. In the men's ski category, a battle is emerging between Martin Rofner, who has already won two OPEN FACES stops, and Simon Wohlgenannt. The Vorarlberg native is currently just a few points behind the Tyrolean. The contest scene is looking forward to an interesting slope that no one had on their radar as a potential contest face. The run down from the Egesengrat offers several options for line choice, and you can also expect plenty of sunshine on the south-eastern slope. We're already looking forward to some good action!
