Mountains and crazy people on the big screen - we're giving away tickets for the Banff World Tour

Skiing is more than counting turns and it's not always just about skiing. Rather, it's about stories, images, wanderlust and that tingle you get when someone experiences on screen exactly what you dream of.

That's exactly what the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is all about - and we at PowderGuide have tickets for you.

Once again this year, the Banff Tour brings a curated selection of the best outdoor, mountain and adventure stories from around the world to the movies. Big lines, small expeditions, deep valleys, high mountains - and everything in between.

We are giving away 2 tickets each for several tour stops in Europe.
A little more specific:

  • 2×2 tickets per city

  • Tuesday, 10.03.2026 -20:00 Hamburg, CinemaxX

  • Monday, 13.04.2026 - 20:30 Vienna , CINEPLEXX Millennium City Vienna

So just have a movie night instead of a couch night!

What to expect at the film festival

Without wanting to spoil much, the Banff Tour is not an advertising block, but a best-of of international outdoor films. From alpine adventures to ski and snowboard stories to climbing, biking and expedition films. Some loud, some quiet, many pretty good.

In short: inspiration for the head, wanderlust for the heart and motivation for the next tour.

Insights into the various films

You can find out which outdoor films will captivate you at the Banff Film Festival here:

Emil and Karl

"Six days of bikepacking in the Swiss Alps: it's Emil and Karl's first big mountain and bike adventure. While the two tots, aged two and a half, are mostly allowed to chill out in the trailer, dad Jakob and dad Konne have to pedal hard. The fact that the four of them are not making too much progress is not only due to the 180 kilometers and 6,000 meters of altitude difference they are aiming for. After all, there is so much for Emil and Karl to do and discover: collecting stones and throwing them into the river, observing cows and marmots or attempting their first downhill descent on a balance bike. But it's not just the route that has its ups and downs, but also the mood of the two co-pilots."

A Baffin Vacation: Love on Ice

"Kayaking, climbing, kiting - for Sarah McNair-Landry and Erik Boomer, Baffin Island is definitely the island of unlimited adventure. On their current expedition to Canada's fifth-largest island, the pair want to combine as many outdoor sports as possible. Sarah and Erik are not afraid of too many kilometers, altitude meters or a tight 24-hour stage. Will this expedition weld the two of them together or will it become a test for their relationship? Only Baffin Island knows the answer."

Reel Rock: Riders on the Storm

"Siebe Vanhee, Sean Villanueva O'Driscoll, Nicolas Favresse and Drew Smith made climbing history in February 2024 with the first free ascent of the Riders on the Storm route in Patagonia. They succeeded in doing what various climbing teams had repeatedly failed to do for 33 years. Determined to climb the 41 pitches to the summit in one go, the four had taken into account the notoriously bad weather in Patagonia, but not the turbulence within the team. A normal generation clash can be more nerve-wracking than a 7c+ at the end of the world."

That One Friend

"For some freeriders, the old phrase "No friends on a powder day" is almost a creed. But Sierra Schlag and Waverly "Waves" Chin can only laugh about it. When the two friends are off-piste together, there are no discussions about the first descent or the best line. On the contrary: Waves and Schlag just want to have a good time - on the mountain, cooking, chatting and knitting together. They even give gummy bears a box seat on the descent. And the mood? It can't change - even if the snowmobile falls over or the skis freeze in front of the hut."

Cold Calls Japan

"Phone calls are a bit out of fashion these days. But if you're a freeride pro and your cell phone rings, it's probably best not to press away the call. After all, it could be someone calling who wants to offer you a part in their next ski movie - Alexi Godbout, for example. Canadian freerider Alex Armstrong apparently did everything right: she answered the phone. The result? A memorable ski trip to Japan - including sushi, a party and lots of powder."

Rogatkin

"Even at the age of five, he didn't just want to ride a bike, he also wanted to do big jumps. Today, Nicholi Rogatkin is regarded as an exceptional talent in the MTB disciplines of freeride and slopestyle. In Rogatkin, he talks about the most formative moments of his 20-year career to date: hard-fought victories, painful defeats, injury breaks and the constant pressure to perform at his best time and time again. Not only because others expect it, but above all because he demands it of himself. However, this has not dampened his motivation and creativity: "Rogatkin loves his sport and has no intention of putting his bike away."

A Grandmothers Sketchbook

"A 30-year-old sketchbook leads Max Romey to the Mont Blanc region. The watercolor artist and environmental activist from Alaska is following in the footsteps of his grandmother, who visited this region at the end of the 1990s and captured it in numerous drawings. Max wants to find out exactly where her sketches were made and sets off on a search together with mountain guide Hillary Gerardi. With her help, many pictures and places around Mont Blanc can be easily identified - only the Mer de Glace puts a spanner in the works. The glacier has simply changed too much in the last 30 years."
