What immediately stands out is the unbeatable lightweight despite the rather robust upper material. It impresses with its simple design, which does not put the brand in the foreground. The details are well thought out and offer unobtrusive functionality, such as the drawstring (Cohaesive drawstring technology in the hood, hem and collar). The workmanship makes a very solid and durable impression. The choice of robust and not too small rows of teeth for the zipper makes it possible to open and close the jacket even in difficult situations.
The cut and adjustability of the hood are well chosen. Only the shield on the hood could have been a little larger for rain. The hood is helmet-compatible and thus provides additional protection from above.
The Gore-Tex Active fabric (3-layer construction) is designed to better transport moisture to the outside. To increase the durability of the Vapor jacket, the membrane is firmly bonded to the lining and outer material. The generously sized chest pocket is well thought out, functional and in the right place. However, there is no additional pocket inside the jacket, for example, to store small items or valuables.
Conclusion
The well thought-out concept of the Vapor jacket is coherent and fulfills its purpose (alpine climbing, ice climbing, expeditions, ski mountaineering) very well. It is absolutely puristically equipped, very light (339 grams) and the pack size is small.
Unfortunately, the price is not quite purist at around 400 euros. However, for this you get an ideal partner for skiing or climbing tours, as well as a loyal companion for everyday use. (Test person wears L at 184 cm and 85 kg).
