Nowadays, it has become a standard mid-layer. Alongside the base layer and hardshell jacket, the main purpose of the midlayer is to store heat and serves as an intermediate layer under the hardshell jacket. The onion principle has proven itself over the years, because thanks to the different layers you are well equipped for all temperatures.
I've been wearing the Mammut Taiss Light ML Jacket on my adventures since the beginning of this winter. The jacket was therefore used on ski tours, skiing and cross-country skiing as well as mountaineering. The mid-layer is very comfortable to wear, especially in cold temperatures. The material is extremely breathable and dries quickly if you do work up a sweat. The 4-way stretch fleece provides sufficient freedom of movement, which is particularly important while climbing. Thanks to the high chest pocket, the mid-layer is also compatible with a climbing or high touring harness. The thumb loops on the sleeves are another very practical feature. These keep your hands warm and prevent the sleeves from riding up.
