Dry and warm hands are not necessarily a matter of course. And the opposite can permanently ruin a day's skiing. That's why good gloves are a must for winter sports enthusiasts. Many freeriders rely on leather because it is robust and durable and provides good protection from the wet. To keep it that way, however, it needs care. A suitable product for this is the impregnating wax for leather from Nikwax.
Regular leather care makes the difference between enjoying the product and being a disappointed user. Leather that is not greased enough not only gets wet and therefore cold, water also penetrates the seams more easily and it quickly becomes brittle. Once the latter has occurred and the outer layers of the former animal skin have cracked - no matter how small - this cycle accelerates exponentially. Wet, cold hands and little fun with your own gloves are the result.
This is where Nikwax waterproofing wax for leather offers a remedy. Simply knead a little in the tube (as it tends to separate a little) and then apply roughly to the leather with the applicator sponge. Then simply put on your gloves and wring your hands until the wax is evenly distributed and absorbed. Excess wax can be wiped off with a paper towel. It is then advisable to place the gloves in an airy place to allow the wax to soak in. If you repeat this procedure a few times during the season, you will be able to enjoy your gloves for a long time. Compared to other wax products, the smell is pleasantly less intense
The wax also works when applied wet. However, handling and results are better on dry leather. Of course, it can also be used for shoes or other leather utensils, but gloves are probably the most common and most important leather product for most freeriders.
